About Vermont Veterinary Surgical Center
The Vermont Veterinary Surgical Center was established in 1989 by Dr. Paul Howard as the first veterinary practice in the state of Vermont dedicated to small animal surgical referral cases. The goal of the Center is to act as an extension of general veterinary practices by providing specialized, surgical procedures that previously had been unavailable to area pet owners. While the VVSC has grown tremendously since 1989, its primary focus of providing quality care for pets and their owners has remained unchanged. The cooperative efforts of veterinarians throughout Vermont, New Hampshire, upstate New York and parts of Canada has allowed the VVSC to become the successful practice that it is today.
The VVSC moved into its current facility in 2001. The increased space, dedicated to the specific needs of a surgical practice, allowed the VVSC to expand its scope of services. Currently, the VVSC provides expertise in soft tissue surgery, orthopedic surgery, neurosurgery, endodontics and selective orthodontics. Arthroscopy and minimally invasive surgical procedures have been offered at the VVSC since 1997. A total hip replacement program was established in 2004 and has proven to be very successful and rewarding.
